2022 TOPPS SERIES ONE

A 330 card base set for the second year in a row, Topps continued the 35th anniversary theme with 1987 reprints (curiously they also used the 1987 in 2017). There are color variations across most inserts, but most are rare and easy to spot. I'm only collecting the base version, usually a white border or background. Other familiar insert sets include the Silver Pack Mojo Chrome cards, Home Run Challenge, a die cut insert, and a retail only insert.

Topps returned to the standard three design lineup, paying tribute to 1963, 1978, and 1987. There are 10 base image variation SSPs that fall every 429 hobby packs. There are design variations that fall every 72 packs. The 63s flipped the large photo and the inset photo, the 78s flipped the color on the border and team name, and the 87s added a rookie cup and Future Stars text. I'm collecting neither the image or design variations. Base set only. There is an 80 card high series featuring various designs that I consider part of the base set and I am collecting. There is also a retail only insert and a postcard set I'm chasing.
